FAQ

at home pt Plano TX

Do I need a physician referral for physical therapy?

Texas is a direct access state, where you can be seen by a physical therapist without a physician referral. Some insurance plans, however, still requires a physician’s referral for therapy to be covered. If your insurance plan allows self-referral to a physical therapist, then a physician referral is not needed for you to be seen by a licensed physical therapist.

Can I choose my own physical therapy clinic?

Yes! You are the boss when it comes to choosing where you receive your physical therapy. Many of referrals received are through physicians, insurance case coordinators or patients directly.

Do you accept my insurance?

We are in network with many insurance plans, including Medicare, Texas Medicaid and other commercial insurance plans. We run insurance verifications on your behalf and notify you in advance of any copays, deductibles or co-insurance prior to your visit, so you are not surprised with any bills after your visit. We will also file claims with your insurance company on your behalf.

Under the No Surprises Act, If your insurance provider requires a co-pay, co-insurance or deductible, we will notify you of the cost and ask for this payment at each visit. Please call us with your insurance information to run eligibility and coverage, if needed. We accept payments by cash, check, debit or credit cards, CashApp and Paypal.

What do I expect on my first visit?

Your first visit will include an evaluation by a physical therapist of your condition, in order to create an individualized program and plan of care to address your needs and functional goals for a maximum recovery. You will need to fill out the patient registration forms, which includes your medical history, outcome measures, medical consent forms. You will also need to bring with you your medical insurance card or claim information if getting therapy as a result of a work or auto related injury, form of ID, referral from your physician (if applicable), medication list/allergies (if applicable). It is recommended to arrive 15 minutes early on your first visit to complete any necessary paperwork.

What do I wear to my therapy appointment?

We recommend that you wear comfortable clothing with closed toe shoes, if available.

How long are the therapy sessions?

Each session is tailored to your individual needs and goals, thus sessions typically range from 30 minutes to 90 minutes, depending on the plan of care.
